The PROFINET Modbus Gateway bridges two different automation networks by running PROFINET on one side and Modbus TCP or Modbus RTU on the other. It provides dual-protocol support in a single device to integrate existing field equipment into new PLC infrastructure.
A web-based configuration interface allows parameter setup without any software installation. Data mapping tables flexibly define relationships between PROFINET variables and Modbus registers.
Transparent Data Bridge
Data flow from the PROFINET PLC to Modbus devices is completely transparent — no additional PLC programming required. The register/coil mapping table is managed from a single browser tab.
TCP and RTU Support
Supports both Modbus TCP (Ethernet) and Modbus RTU (RS-485 serial) on the Modbus side simultaneously or independently, providing flexibility with different field devices.
Easy Commissioning via GSDML
A GSDML file is provided for the PROFINET side; the device is automatically recognised and quickly configured in TIA Portal and other compatible engineering environments.
Software-Free Configuration
The web browser interface allows data mapping tables to be created, edited and backed up without installing any additional software.

01 Which Modbus function codes are supported?
FC01 (Read Coils), FC02 (Read Discrete Inputs), FC03 (Read Holding Registers), FC04 (Read Input Registers), FC05 (Write Single Coil), FC06 (Write Single Register), FC15 and FC16 (Write Multiple) are supported.
02 Does the gateway act as a PROFINET controller or device?
The gateway always operates as a PROFINET Device (IO-Device) on the PROFINET side; it is managed by the connected PROFINET IO-Controller (PLC).
03 Can Modbus TCP and RTU be used simultaneously?
Yes. The gateway can be configured as both a Modbus TCP Slave and a Modbus RTU Master/Slave simultaneously, allowing an Ethernet SCADA and serial field devices to communicate at the same time.
